DEFEND OUR GREEN BELT
NO to Opencast Mining between Cossall and TrowellDetails of public meetings and who to write to from Anna Soubry MP
Hello again,
I have now been sent the details from Notts County Council of the application by UK Coal for an opencast mine at "Shortwood", which is a site of 325 acres of Green Belt land between Cossall and Trowell.
The full application can be seen on Notts County Council's web site - please click here
You can also cut and paste the following link which is a longer process and requires some navigation. http://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/search-applications.htm (Ref No ES/2569)
As you will see, UK Coal's planning application comprises of a large number of documents and the public consultation closes on May 31st. This is not enough time and accordingly I am supporting Trowell Parish Council's submission that the deadline is extended.
At this stage I would ask you to write or use the online “comment on this application” form via the above link, and say you object to the application and believe the deadline of May 31st should be extended.
If you prefer to write then please send your comments to Nottinghamshire County Council, Development Management, Trent Bridge House, Fox Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 6BJ.
I am in the process of arranging a meeting with all the Borough, County and Parish Councillors who will be directly affecetd by an open cast mine at Shortwood
Awsworth Parish Council have organised a Public Meeting (details opposite) and Trowell Parish Council are finalising a date which is likely to be either on the afternoon of Sunday 13th May or on the evening Friday 18 May. I will send you the details as soon as I have them and post them on my web site
www.annasoubry.org.uk Both Councils have invited me and I will be attending as you may imagine!
Awsworth Parish Council have also posted details and documents on their web site
http://www.awsworthparishcouncil.co.uk/ and is available by clicking on "News and Notices" and then the "surface mining" tab.
It is really encouraging to see our Parish Councils leading the way and getting organised. If we are to stop UK Coal's application not only do we all need to work together but we need everyone to get involved please!
As ever,
Anna
